7/14 update: Bridget is doing so well. Her skin is clear now. Those 2 huge demodex patches on her back are gone. She is getting more and more confident and I even caught her twirling. She is sweet, oh so gentle, and will make a great companion for someone. She loves my beagle ladies.

6/29 update: Bridget is a shy girl. She is fine with other dogs, loves my Millie Beagle and Betsy Loo. She is beginning to leash walk but is still a bit nervous on a leash. She is easy to handle though and enjoys being petted. Not an aggressive bone in her body. She has a beautiful tail with longer hair. Her demodex is almost fully cleared up. Have been treating her with Promeris. She is UTD on her HW prevention. Spayed. She will finally take treats from my hand rather than wanting me to set them down in front of her. About 30lbs. Her former owner said she has been around kids without issue.

6/7 update: Bridget's demodex got much worse at the kennel. Stress makes it worse. But she does seem to be doing better already in foster. Also coming out of her shell more and more. Tail wags now when I come out. She does run in the house when I go in the pen but she is better about being petted and will now take treats from my hand. I also caught her playing with a rope toy today:)

5/15 update: Bridget is a gentle soul although she is somewhat shy. She is OK once you touch her but she will try to avoid touch by running in and out of the doggie door. I think in a more comfortable setting she woudl blossom. Her brother Jack is doing quite well here and he was more withdrawn than Bridget. Jack hid in the dog house for a few days after coming here but now he is all tail wags and jumping up on the gate when he sees me coming. I feel Bridget would do the same thing in a better setting. Her demodex does look better.

5/9 update: Bridgett is the most shy of the 3. She also has the worst demodex of the 3. She is a sweet dog however, is fine with other dogs, no aggression. Had no luck getting a pic since if I went in run she would go outside, if I went outside she would go in, so I had to take one pic over the fence and it is not good.

Bio: Owner surrendered beagle mom and her 4 adult offspring due to neighbor threatening to harm/shoot. All lived outdoors but thankfully are heartworm negative. They have just arrived so we don't have detailed temperament info on them yet.

5 beagle mixes, mom and 4 adult pups:

Mom is Jenny, HW neg, rabies vaxed, already spayed, demodectic, going to foster home.

Jack, HORRIBLE demodectic, taking him and Jenny home with me. HW neg, no vax due to mange being so bad.

Betty, HW neg, already spayed, rabies vaxed

Trouble, HW neg, being neutered tomorrow, rabies vaxed

Bridget, HW neg, moderate demodectic, rabies vaxed, already spayed.

All loaded with ticks. Sweet dogs but Jack is not very social. Scared to death.

Please note: In most cases, the breed mix is our best guess based on the size/appearance of the dog. Most of the dogs we get are strays so their history is unknown.

Please sponsor me! Full sponsorship is $120 per dog. Partial sponsorships accepted and appreciated. PayPal as gift to STAR_donations@yahoo.com and include comment: sponsor money for [insert dog's name you wish to sponsor]. Sponsoring saves lives!

Dogs in the Rowan County K-9 Shelter receive their first dhppl vaccination (parvo/distemper) upon arrival at the pound. Rabies vaccine and spay/neuter surgery can be done for the $50 adoption fee. Please note rabies vaccine and surgeries are NOT done on site and dogs must be adopted before they receive rabies vaccine or surgery. We currently do not have the ability to cat test the pound dogs.
