Meet Rory

Rory

4.4#

Female

6 years old.

4-21-13 Update: Rory is recovering well from her spay surgery. Her exam went great, neg HW tests, and teeth look good! Rory has fallen right in with the other dogs and gets along fine. Has not seemed to notice the cats but did bark once when one of the others spied the cat. Not sure she even noticed the cat, but alerted when someone else did. Rory patiently waits her turn for a belly rub and sure enjoys them! And she is a lap sitter if you allow it, but seems just as content to lay at your side. She is the cutest little thing when she walks, seems to prance on her toes like a tiny ballet dancer. Rory is attentive and does seem to learn quickly. Rory is looking for someone to love her.

Initial Bio 04-16-13: Rory just came to UYR, her previous owner was ill and no longer able to care for Rory. Rory is a tiny girl who is just prancing around smelling all the new smells and getting to know the other pups. We are just getting to know her and her vet exam and spay surgery is scheduled tomorrow so it may take a few days for her to get back to normal. Watch her posting for updates and get your application in early.

Adoption donation to be determined

ADOPTION APPLICATIONS: Please visit our website at http://unitedyorkierescue.org , or complete an Application for Adoption. IT IS NECESSARY TO ENTER AN ANSWER IN EACH AREA OF THE APPLICATION. IF NECESSARY, PLEASE, PUT ""NO"" OR ""N/A"" IN THE PROVIDED SPACE. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS CANNOT BE PROCESSED. ALL references will be checked and home visits will be done.

ADOPTION DONATIONS: Adoption donations are based on but not limited to: health, age, and sex of the pup. Adoption donations range from $50-$600. You may ask, ""Why would you charge an adoption fee? Why not just place in a good home?"" The answer is: because we rely heavily on these adoption fees in order to be able to take in ALL Yorkies in need. A young, healthy dog may cost us $200-400 in vet care, and have many homes interested in adopting him/her. An older or sick Yorkie, or one with health issues can easily cost $500-1500+ in veterinary expenses. He/she may require months of foster care for rehabilitation or expensive surgery%3B yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee. Often times these are also the same dogs that don't receive as many inquires for adopting. Please keep in mind that the adoption donations of younger, healthy dogs help defray the higher costs of the veterinary care of older, injured or sick dogs. We hope that people looking to adopt through Yorkies Inc. are willing to give an opportunity for a better life to ALL of our dogs by supporting them through adoption fees. We are a non-profit organization. Without these adoption donations we would not have the funding to take in all Yorkies in need. Yorkies Inc. completely vets every dog we take in. All dogs are groomed given a complete exam and brought up to date on all vaccines. They are also given a dental cleanings, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested and any medical needs and needed surgeries are met before placement.

CHOOSING HOMES: All adoption applications will be thoroughly reviewed%3B will need three personal references and a reference from your vet. All of your present pets must be up to date on shots and on heartworm prevention. Homes with Yorkie experience and fenced in yards are given first preference.

CHILDREN: Due to their size, personality and legal liabilities, we are very cautious when adopting to a home with children. Unless you have a strong background with the breed, each application will be reviewed on case by case.

TRANSPORTS: UYR DOES NOT SHIP ITS DOGS. We try when we can to assist with transporting rescues to their new families but expect the families to help. We do adopt out-of-state, however, the primary responsibility of the transport is the adopters, but we will assist to whatever extent possible.

REMEMBER: Rescued animals are by no means perfect or show quality. They are usually from Puppy Mills, bad breeding, unwanted, abandoned, sick or old. Almost never will we get in a small young female. Rarely do we have a lot of background on our rescues. ALL of our rescues will be altered prior to adoptions with no exceptions.

If you think a rescue is for you, meet our criteria and have a good loving home to offer, please visit our website and fill out an adoption application today at: UYR Application for Adoption
