Meet NY-Coco ADOPTED!

Please read the following listing COMPLETELY before submitting your adoption application to Doodle Rescue Collective Inc. DRC does not adopt rescued doodle dogs to first time dog owners or families with children under 10 years of age.

LOCATED IN NEW PALTZ, NEW YORK

MEET COCO!- A beautiful, 7 years young, chocolate F1 Labradoodle girl who is in need, of a very special "furever" home and family. Coco is 70 lbs. and she has a soft, mixed wire/fleece light-shedding coat that will require brushing and some grooming every 6-8 weeks.

After 7 years with the only family she has ever known, poor Coco is being re-homed because her family is being forced to downsize to a rental apartment that will not allow pets. (deep breath…long pause….heavy sigh…resume typing.) It's a heartbreaking situation for any dog but even more so for an older dog like Coco who is very attached to her family. She is described as being "a big, lovable sweetheart" and "quite resilient." Her owner has entrusted DRC with the task of finding a perfect home and family for this wonderful girl.

Her owners explain:

"CoCo is a friendly, sweet and devoted girl who loves all people. She is very people-focused and loves receiving human attention from anyone willing to pet her and love on her. She never strays to far from her peeps and will happily sit or lay at your feet all day. Unfortunately, we are in the process of selling our home and for financial reasons have no choice but to move into a rental which does not accept dogs. We are sad to give up Coco but realize that even if we could take her with us, she needs much more time, attention, space and a yard with room to run and would not be happy in an apartment. We hope DRC will find her the perfect home and family where she will get everything she needs and be a loved and cherished family member for the rest of her life."

"Coco is a very smart and playful dog and you would never know that she is 7 because she is in such excellent health and is so energetic and puppy-like when she plays. She of course settles down immediately when in the house and is content to lay at your feet most of the day. She enjoys going for hikes and for runs, loves to ride in the car and is an excellent travel companion. She is not a big barker but will always let you know when someone arrives. She is great with our cats and gets along with most other dogs. When in her own environment, she can be bossy with other dogs. That's not to say that she wouldn't enjoy canine companionship. But it would probably have to be an easy going male dog as Coco is an alpha female who will try to push other female dogs around when in "her" house." She would be quite content being the only dog in the house."

"Coco is a very happy and healthy dog. She was diagnosed with a "loose sphincter muscle" as a puppy when we noticed she would leak a little bit of urine when in a deep sleep. But she takes daily, inexpensive Proin which prevents this from happening. She does need more frequent potty breaks (every 5-6 hours) and would be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time. She is a great dog, a good friend and will be a devoted companion to her new famly."

Coco will need a calm, adult home with a fenced in yard and a dog savvy adult family. She would be happiest as an only dog in a home where someone is around for at least part of the day. Coco would be a perfect canine companion for active retirees or empty-nesters. She is spayed, house-trained, UTD on all vaccines and preventatives and will be wonderful addition to the right family.
