Meet Kenai

Meet Kenai!  He is an 11 week old Dachshund/Beagle mix who was born on January 17th, 2013.  We received his mother, Bella when she was very pregnant in January.  She had 7 healthy puppies via cesarean section.  Bella has such a nice temperament, so we expect that her puppies will as well.  She is a lucky girl and all of her hard work has been rewarded with a wonderful new home!
Kenai is such a sweet puppy.  He is a cuddlebug and loves to play with his foster brothers and sisters.  He has been very well socialized in his foster home and has had many new experiences.  Our foster families work hard to help transition pups into their new homes.  He has gone for rides and played with the neighborhood kids. Kenai is crate trained and is doing great with house training.  He will be a pro in no time!

Like any puppy, Kenai will need a family who is willing and able to spend time with him in these early months to help him be the best dog that he can be.  He is an indoor dog and will make a great pal for someone special!

If you are interested in Kenai, please submit your application.  The adoption donation is $175 which includes up to date vaccinations, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, and $75 will be refunded to you upon proof of his neuter prior to July 17th, 2013.
Dog Adoption Guidelines:

You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. You can fill out an application at www.forthepets.org/adoption.htm or email to humanesociety@murray-ky.net for an application.

It is not a "first come" process; we try to "match" the dog with the family for a FOREVER home. We process all applications at once and take the dog off the site, place on adoption pending status until a decision is made. If a suitable home is not found, the dog returns to active status.

The dog adoption process can take about two weeks; we are a small group of volunteers who have full time jobs.

We do not fly or ship our dogs due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the dog back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered.

If you apply to adopt a dog and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the dog and fill out the paperwork in person.

We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport.

We can't provide individual "meet and greet" sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have time to visit with the dog before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
