4/9: Sad update from Jan: Marlow was PTS yesterday. Vet called to say she was going further downhill and felt most humane thing was to PTS.


We still need help covering her $700 vet bill.

4/5 afternoon update: Vet just called. Not much change. Still wont eat but no vomiting or diarrhea. Treated her for Giardia too. Running more labs this afternoon.


4/5 update from Julia: Sent to specialist yesterday. Ulcerated tongue and bowel. Had major reaction to Meloxicam. Tossed her into renal failure. Specialist is flushing her system and said next 48 will tell if she is going to make it. Right now she has 50/50 chance.


4/3 update: Marlow is very sick.  We aren't sure she's going to make it.  :-(  She may be going to a specialist.  Please help us help her!


 


3/22 update: Doc has given her a good bill of health today, so she can be released from the vet as soon as the foster is able to pick her up.  She will still need to stay on her antibiotics and need some much needed TLC.  Vet staff said she will make someone a wonderful family pet.  Doc wants to run another comprehensive blood panel in a couple of weeks. Total bill so far is $360. Please help! There is a donate button below.


3/19: Marlow has been taken to the vet for surgery for a possible tumor. the vet said she had a big abscess on the thoraco abdominal (chest and abdominal) junction with an infection that seems to have migrated into the pancreas and liver, but no tumor, so this is treatable but she is very sick at the moment. She is currently an in-patient at our vet and will be there for several days. Also, she will need pain meds, antibiotics and liver tonic for several days. Please help us pay down her vet bill! At the moment it's estimated to be around $350 but that may change depending on how long she needs this intensive level of care.

3-16:  Marlow is doing much better now.  The pad on her paw has healed, and she no longer limps. She has also gained some weight.  She is such a pretty girl, and, like many of our Coonhounds, she is a sweetheart!  Marlow tends to be a bit shy with new people, especially if there is a large group at one time.  Once she gets to know you, she loves attention.  She gets along great with other dogs.  She and her new pen-mate, Darla, are a perfect match!


Bio: Marlow was brought to the Pound as a stray on 2-23.  She was underweight, and had an injured paw upon intake.  The pad on one of her front feet is scraped, and this is causing her to limp.  Marlow is very sweet and friendly like many of our coonhounds.  She enjoyed sleeping in the afternoon sun on her first day at the Pound.

Dogs in the Rowan County K-9 Shelter receive their first dhppl vaccination (parvo/distemper) upon arrival at the pound. Rabies vaccine and spay/neuter surgery can be done for the $50 adoption fee. Please note rabies vaccine and surgeries are NOT done on site and dogs must be adopted before they receive rabies vaccine or surgery. We currently do not have the ability to cat test the pound dogs.
