Meet Otto

Otto is a very playful and friendly chinchilla. He loves to come out of his cage to run around and explore!

Average Lifespan: 10-15 years

Personality: Playful, curious and social.

Housing: We strongly recommend Ferret Nation or Critter Nation cages for chinchillas. These cages are spacious, easy to clean and good quality. (Available online at www.ferret.com)

Diet: Timothy hay, Timothy-based pellets, small amounts of whole grains and dried fruit for treats.

Social Needs: Chinchillas are very social animals and love to spend time with a companion chinchilla and their human family.

Care Level: Moderate

Good With Children: Chinchillas are generally not good pets for children because they typically do not like to be held, and can be easily injured.

Special Needs: Chinchillas need access to a chinchilla proofed room to run and play for 2-3 hours each day. Exercise is very important for their mental and physical health.
