Bella American Staffordshire Terrier Mix Burlington, VT

Sweet Bella is a 3 yr old pit bull mix, petite at just 40lbs, with a velvety soft orange and white coat. She was rescued from a shelter in NYC in December 2012, and she gave birth to a litter of puppies the following week.  Bella was adopted but unfortunately needs to be rehomed due to a change in family circumstances.


Bella is wonderful and playful with all other animals including dogs and cats although she plays very rough. Not aggressive ever, but initially very fearful of strangers (adult human only) and will bark and look intimidating but is submissive and warms up very quickly (within one visit).  She adores children and loves them to shower her with attention.  She NEVER whines (I have never once heard it) and only barks when someone new arrives. No problem behaviors. She is too strong and clumsy for very small children or the elderly or busy households that might be annoyed by being frequently bumped into while playing. She would benefit from a little room to run around, especially if there are other dogs to play with. She can run and fetch and swim and never seems to tire but once we get inside she is a couch potato in a GOOD WAY.   Perfectly housebroken, crate trained, great off leash at home when in her comfort zone (spooks elsewhere), spayed, vaccinated, microchipped. She is obedient and sweet and affectionate and needs someone with time to cuddle, walk and swim with her (she will swim for hours). She even does well at the dog park despite her fear of humans but would benefit from more experience. She LOVES other dogs but really wants to be the center of her human's attention and will try to be a lapdog.

All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary. Vet references are required and prior to adoption a home inspection will be conducted. Adoption fee applies.
