Meet Lulu

Lulu is getting better!!! We are so happy! She is just about ready for adoption! We need to find her a great home that will lover her as much as she'll love you. She's one of the most special and sweet dogs we have ever had the pleasure of having in our home. Her future is bright! All her teeth were removed but she will eat kibble as long as it soaks a little bit. We are feeding her Limited Ingredient food from any petstore. It's not any more expensive than regular dog food. Lulu will need to be on a limited ingredient diet but that's about it. Those rotten teeth were plaguing her poor body but now she is looking great! Please contact us for more info.*UPDATE*  05/23/13  Lulu has Inflammatory Bowel Disease.  They really don't know everything about the disease but doctors suspect it's like an allergic reaction to a protein or food.  Her intestines are inflammed and swollen so they are unable to absorb nutrients from her food.  Lulu got down to 7.5lbs!  We could see each individual bone in her body.  It's such a hard thing to see.  However, after getting the advice from more than one specialist and seeing a holistic vet, Lulu is on the mend.  She first gained a half of pound over three months which didn't impress us much... but after starting a more natural approach with enzymes and probiotics Lulu gained another half pound in just two weeks!  Over the last month or two we have experimented with different protein sources to feed Lulu.  We could instantly tell the ones that weren't jiving with her digestive system.  We are now cooking just chicken for her.  She's been doing well on plain chicken.  We've tried to add potato or rice but that did not work so we are forced to start over with plain chicken.  We are seeing improvement in her muscle structure and are confident at her next vet visit next week she will have gained a significant amount of weight.  Please keep this sweetpea in your thoughts and if there's anyway you can donate please do.  She's very worth it!  *UPDATE*  ~ After bloodwork the vet found that Lulu also has Pancreatitis.  Although symptoms are usually painful Lulu continues to eat well and be her happy self.  We are making her an easy homemade blend of a healthy, low fat mix so that she will gain weight.  We need her weight to come up and her bloodwork to come to normal levels so that she can have a much needed dental.  Lulu is such a loving dog.  We are confident she will be healthy again but she will continue to need vet checkups and bloodwork over the next few months.  We would appreciate any donations you can offer.  You can donate through PayPal by entering CCDR's address ccdrdonations@c2cdr.org.  Or you can send it through mail at

This is beautiful Miss Lulu.  She is the most sweet and loving dog you will ever meet!  We took her in a couple of weeks ago.  Her owner had to leave her for 12 hours a day.  The owner was noticing Lulu vomiting during the day and she assumed it was from separation anxiety.  So, she thought the best thing she could do for Lulu was to bring her to us so Lulu can find a better home.  When we took Lulu home we noticed how bad her teeth were and how skinny she was.  Lulu also didn’t seem to have separation anxiety since she would quietly go lay on her doggy bed when I would have to leave.  We are now suspecting her regurgitation is from a disorder called Megaesophagus.  We have two friends with doxies that have the same disorder.  It is manageable and dog with the disorder certainly can live a normal life with a few simple adjustments.  We are feeding her upright and the food has been staying down.  We must get Lulu hydrated and her weight up before she can have a dental.  Please check back for more updates.  She deserves all the love we can give her and we will certainly give her our all.  We feed her upright by holding her in our arms and she just melts into you.  No squirms, no wiggles, she just falls asleep.  If you have ever considered donating to a very worthy cause please consider a donation to CCDR to help with the cost of this sweet girl's care.  Thank you!
