Shep (smooth collie) Collie Toronto, ON

Shep is an approx. 3-year-old tri-coloured Smooth Collie who is searching for his furever home in Ontario.  Shep is well-behaved and calm in the house and a nightly snuggle on the couch while watching your favourite show would be right up his alley.  He's an affectionate, loving boy who is thrilled to be inside and part of the family for the first time in his life!  A home that will take Shep along for outings, provide him with a cozy doggie bed and love this big goofy boy is just what he needs.  A home that will attend basic obedience classes with him will be a bonus.  Formal classes are an amazing way to bond with a new family for a dog and it will also help Shep's social skills.


Shep’s leash skills have come a long way since entering foster care.  He now walks on a loose leash unless he sees a cat or squirrel.  He is still learning to ignore other dogs on walks; he wants to meet and greet them so badly, as he is such a social boy.  Shep is very smart and quite pleased with himself when he does things right so a home that will make learning a daily, FUN activity will see Shep blossom into the intelligent, happy boy he truly is. 


Shep is good with dogs off leash, however his recall is not good so a safe, contained area is a must.  He is currently being fostered with two other dogs, one senior who told Shep to bug off and he respects her space and one who loves to play and she and Shep bounce around the yard.  A young, laid-back, playful dog would likely be great for Shep - a canine buddy to bounce around with and tire each other out!


Shep does NOT like cats and will need a cat-free home.  He would be fine with children 12+ as his bouncy style of play and his strong leash walks will be too much for younger children.
