Meet Butter

Meet the ever-so-handsome Butter! He's got all the moves - lady's man, charming, a great kisser! This 8 year old pit bull type dog was rescued from certain death on mean the streets of Los Angeles and transferred to Portland, to enter BAPBR's Pit Stop program, where he now has a chance to find a lady, er, mom (or dad!) of his own to love on.

This handsome devil was not looking so gorgeous or feeling so great when he was brought into the LA animal facility, unfortunately. He's gone through quite a transformation from the severely thin condition he was in. The staff there also find his back right leg was severely damaged, with an open wound to the bone--possibly from being hit by a car. Now that his leg has healed and he's at a perfectly healthy weight, Butter is ready for his forever home.

Butter is perfect for a family (with children over 12 years old) with a busy lifestyle, or someone who is just looking for an easy-going, low-maintenance dog. He loves his walks and thoroughly enjoys his chewies, but doesn't require tons of exercise to wear him out. He loves to sleep and often sleeps with the tip of his tongue out of his mouth--you must see it for yourself!

He already is crate trained, house trained, up to date on all his vaccines and in perfect health. Butter likes friendly, large female dogs, and possibly some male dogs (but he can be selective about which boy dogs will be his BFFs). After a slow introduction, Butter will be any calm canine's friend for life. Butter has attended training classes and he would love to continue as he enjoys the company of other obedient dogs, and he loves to learn!

Even though Butter is mature, he still has the gusto to chase small animals--he finds them kind of irresistible. He is looking for a loving home without cats or small dogs, and with children over 12. On the flip side, Butter is a very mellow dog and will make an amazing family companion. We can't imagine this boy not being scooped up by a loving person in record time so don't wait to start the process of meeting him today!

If you are interested in meeting Butter, please fill out the application with as much detail as possible. THE ADOPTION APPLICATION (CLICK HERE)

Once we have received your application, we will call you within 48 hours to go over your application and to set up a meet and greet. If you have any other questions, you can call Angela @ 503-888-4583.

Butter's adoption fee is $150. The adoption fee includes: altering, microchip and registration (a $20 value), initial vaccines, copy of medical vet records/history, dewormed, flea treated, collar, front clip walking harness, leash, Patricia McConnell's new book: "Love Has No Age Limit", small bag of grain-free kibble, and plenty of post adoption support.

BAPBR adoption guidelines:

No same-sex pit bull terrier type dog pairings.

Same-sex adoptions with other breeds will be considered on a case-by-case basis, though not preferred.

Indoor homes only - we do not adopt out "outdoor" dogs or "guard" dogs.

Please note that adoption applicants must own their own home. A BAPBR representative will conduct a home check. There will be no exceptions made to this rule, due to the frequent restrictions on apartments, and rental homes.

Didn't find the right match at BABPR? We are continuously working with many other animal shelters and rescues and are usually able to help connect you to another dog that may be a better fit for your family. Please email us at Info@BAPBR.org so that we might be able to assist you--our ultimate goal is to make sure all dogs find loving homes, no matter where they currently reside.

I am looking for a leader who will keep up my training, and always show me boundaries and consistency. This will ensure that I keep giving my breed a good name. Our personalities are energetic, loyal, intelligent, fun loving, and affectionate. We require intelligent, responsible, and dedicated leadership. Because of our undeserved negative media image, human companions living with Pit Bull Terrier type dogs have to be more careful and responsible than the average human dog companion.

"To the world you may be just one person, but to a dog you are the world."

"No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich."
