Meet Kate

The oh-so-lovely Little Miss Kate at just 14 weeks(born 12/9/11) of age, is dreaming of a family to call her own. She's on a Pit Stop while she awaits her forever home and her foster mom says she is a dream of a puppy! We get to learn so much more about a dog in foster care and boy, are we impressed!

This little gal is very easy-going and sociable--she greets everyone she sees with a very polite "sit" and loves the attention that follows. Repeat visitor or old friend of Kate's? They get the classic Whole Body Wiggle. Kate seems to be particularly fond of younger children and men. She's more into her people friends then playing with other dogs, though she is just fine around other dogs--she can be easily intimidated by them.

Kate is already working on her leash manners and she knows how to "sit" quite well. She will need a home where her owners continue building a solid foundation of training and good house manners to provide structure and lay the groundwork for an excellent future adult dog. She is on the sensitive side and will need only positive training methods, patience and lots of encouragement and love.

This sweetheart gets very excited and eager for her walks around the neighborhood---she gets all wriggly when she sees her winter coat being pulled out--she knows just what that means! She also loves to come back home and cuddle with her people and as all pit bull type dogs do, she loves to be as close to a heat source as she can (the blow dryer, the heater). She also enjoys playing with her toys and chewies and a good game of chase (if it moves! Including her tail!).

We've already seen signs that Kate might make an excellent Nose Work candidate or Agility dog---if you're looking for a dog sport partner, she might just grow up into the perfect pal for that. Kate's new family should be prepared to continue to build on her socialization and exposure to anything and everything "new" to her to help her build confidence.

Kate's ideal home would have other children 6 or older, ideally another confident and mature dog who still enjoys some play time, but can be a great role model for her to take cues from as she continues her learning, and be willing to take Miss Kate with them on many of their outings and activities.

This young girl is vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed, but will need her rabies vaccination when she's six months old, but she's ready to go now!

BAPBR adoption guidelines:

Same-sex adoptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis, though not preferred.

Indoor homes only – we do not adopt out “outdoor” dogs or “guard” dogs.

Please note that adoption applicants must own their own home. A BAPBR representative will conduct a home check. There will be no exceptions made to this rule, due to the frequent restrictions on apartments, and rental homes.

Didn't find the right match at BABPR? We are continuously working with many other animal shelters and rescues and are usually able to help connect you to another dog that may be a better fit for your family. Please email us at Info@BAPBR.org so that we might be able to assist you--our ultimate goal is to make sure all dogs find loving homes, no matter where they currently reside.

I am looking for a leader who will keep up my training, and always show me boundaries and consistency. This will ensure that I keep giving my breed a good name. Our personalities are energetic, loyal, intelligent, fun loving, and affectionate. We require intelligent, responsible, and dedicated leadership. Because of our undeserved negative media image, human companions living with Pit Bull Terrier type dogs have to be more careful and responsible than the average human dog companion.

"To the world you may be just one person, but to a dog you are the world."

"No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich."
