Meet Carly

Update11/9/2014:Carly is back. She is a sweet and wonderful girl that loves to give kisses. She came back to us because the previous adopters allowed her to have unsupervised time in the yard and Carly was able to jump the fence between theirs and the neighbors yard so she could go visit.

Carly is a wonderful giant BUT she is able to jump fences. She can clear an 8 foot block wall fence. If Carly had a job and someone to train her and work with her and keep her mind busy, then she is a lot less likely to scale fences. Carly wants to be with her humans 24/7. It is possible that another dog would help with the situation. She is in a foster home where she gets lots of love and affection, but she will still scale their block wall. There is something called coyote rollers that can be made of pvc pipe and those would keep her in the fence. She CANNOT be left outside or have access to a doggie door while the family is gone. She would have to be crated until training and trust is established. And it is not likely she could ever be left with a doggie door or left outside if the family is not at home.

We have had giants who scaled fences but after they went to their new home, they did not do it again. Carly is continuing her climbing in her foster home but it is manageable for them. If you are someone who gets lots of exercise and takes your dog with you, and someone who understands dog training, Carly might just be the dog for you.

Carly's history:

These two young female probably giant schnauzers were found wandering in the desert near Florence, AZ Christmas weekend. Some kind soul took them in and found them another home in the Phoenix area. This neat person did research and found that they were probably giant schnauzers. She called VSGSR and they are now with us. The girls are all natural and all black. One has a soft American coat and the other a harsher coat. Both girls weigh about 60 lb at about 8 months of age. They are getting along with all the other dogs and are a happy twosome. They can be split up as we understand that adopting two very young giant schnauzers would be a handful But if you are the right home, that is a possibility. Justine has been adopted but Carly is still available.

The girls adoption fee is $350 each and the will be spayed, have full panel blood tests done, be microchipped and up to date on all of their shots. If adopted together, a special fee would apply. We do prefer that you be within driving distance of Phoenix to adopt one of our dogs. If the adoption doesn't work out for some reason with in the first thirty days, the adoption fee is refunded upon return of the dog. Our contract states that during the life of the dog, should something happen that you can not keep any of our dogs, the dog must be returned to VSGSR. Should a family member wish to adopt the dog, they would be given first priority. We are responsible for our dogs for their entire life.
