Meet Bo

Hi, my name is Bo and I have a sad story to tell. I used to live with my family in the south and I got caught in a trap (we believe) and my leg was badly damaged. My people let me heal long enough that my bone fused together, but the wound never closed and they got tired of dealing with me, so they brought me to the kill shelter. The people at the shelter thought I was such a nice boy that they tried to find me rescue where I could get the help that I so badly needed for my leg. My foster mommy saw me on this list and knew that she had to try to help me. So with the help of a lot of people, I was on my way to WI. When I got here, I was taken to the vet so that the vet could look at my leg and decide if it needed to be amputated. They x-rayed it and found bebe pellets embedded in that same leg:( The vet determined that since I still put weight on the leg and limp on it, that at this time, my leg should stay, but later in life, that could change and I could lose that leg if it starts to hurt me. So my foster family went to work in trying to heal the leg wound. It's much better now, and nearly all closed up! I try to run around the yard and play with the other dogs in the household. My family marvels at how quick I can move!!!!

OK, enough of the my sad story. You see as sad as my story is, the thing that is the saddest to my foster mommy is the fact that I am the sweetest dog! It brings a tear to her eye when she thinks that I could've been put down because of my bum leg. Families look long and hard for my temperment and it was almost thrown away! I love absolutely everyone! If my people would let me, I'd love to crawl into their laps and snuggle, but since I'm a big boy at about 80lbs, they don't think that's a good idea. :) I am 2-3 years old. I am house trained and crate trained, but I really don't need the crate. I sleep on a dog bed next to my foster parents bed at night. I do really well off of the leash. My foster dad is a hunter and can see that I probably was a hunting dog which may have led to my injury. My little buddies are the kids in the house. I love the kids, but I love everyone, so that's no surprise:) My family has a lot of pet names for me like BoBo, Bowsers, Bozo (when I'm being silly) and Bozerific! I'm still shedding out some of my winter coat, but I have the most beautiful coat coming in, too! Everyone remarks on my coloring. I will never make a good running buddy, but if you're looking for a companion and best friend, that's me. Please give me a chance to show you what a terrific dog I am. You'll forget that I have a bad leg.
