Meet Ruby

RUBY AN UNDISCOVERED JEWEL!

Our little jewel “Ruby” sparkles with her happy personality. This attractive black spayed female came to the Shelter with her sister Sunny on Feb.10th under the category of “stray”. Ruby and her sibling had been living under a deck of an old house which had been condemned and was set to be demolished in less than a week. Concerned for their safety and demolition of the only home they knew, they were surrendered to the Shelter by a caring citizen.

Ruby and Sunny are identical, approximately one year old. The only way to tell them apart was the sad fact that Ruby had an injury - her right front paw was diagnosed with permanent nerve damage to the cranial nerve. Consultations ensued with numerous vets but it was determined that the removal of the front leg was the most humane way to go. Ruby had no feeling in certain parts of her leg and it would drag which in the long term could mean further complications and injury. The surgery itself cost our dwindling coffers $550 (through Troopers Fund**). Ruby convalesced and is as good as new. She has made remarkable improvement and seems oblivious of her three legged status. Her bright eyes follow you and are full of life and her only wish is for someone to take her home and love her.

Ruby should go to a home where there are no stairs - an apartment or a bungalow would be ideal , however, she is quite agile, and can move quickly and seems not to have a care in the world. Adult only, semi retired or retired families would be of special interest or families with older children will be considered. To give Ruby maximum exposure she is residing at our Thrift Shop in Georgetown and is enjoying the comings and goings from her large enclosure. Should anyone consider adopting her sister as well Sunny is residing at the Shelter, but single adoptions in both cases are also fine.

It was a pleasure to meet this courageous young lady with her pretty face, intelligence and zest for life. Having faced hardship, she seems so people friendly and is in every other way healthy and inquisitive as a young cat should be. Ruby has used one of her nine lives, but assures me she has eight more to go. Ruby is waiting at the Thrift Shop (closed Sundays and Mondays) call 905-702-8661 to meet her. Shelter for adoption 519-833-2287. ** NOTE: Through generous donations to the Troopers Fund we were able to give Ruby a chance at a good life, anyone wishing to donate to help pay for Ruby’s surgery or help future special needs residents donations would be gratefully accepted… specify it is for Ruby and/or Troopers Fund ….thank you.
