Meet Herbie

* { font:inherit; } Herbie needs your help!!

Come meet HERBIE and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (April 17th) from 12-2 pm at White Flint Petsmart (5154 Nicholson Ln. Kensington, MD)!!!

HERBIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Herbie  Breed: Chocolate Lab/Basset Hound mix

Approximate Age: 1 year

Approximate Weight:  36lbs

Currently Living at: foster

Poor Herbie was a stray who the vet thinks was hit by a car several months before ending up in the shelter.  When he got to the shelter he was dragging his front leg, an injury from being hit by the car.  The leg was totally useless to him and becoming infected from constantly being dragged across the ground as Herbie walked.  The vet recommended having the leg amputated since there was no hope of recovering use of it.  In addition, poor Herbie was chewing on the leg because he had no feeling in it, so it was going from bad to worse.

Herbie was facing certain euthanization unless a rescue stepped up to help him.  Lucky Dog volunteers decided to give the poor dog a chance and pledged to cover the amputation surgery - the surgery was performed that day and Herbie is now looking for a foster or forever home!

Meet Herbie - this sweet little guy has had some really bad luck in his brief life so far.  He was picked up as a stray and had obviously been hit by a car, the impact almost tearing one of his front legs from his body causing severe nerve damage, resulting in amputation of the leg (as you read above).
In spite of all he has been through, Herbie is a super-happy, cheery, fun-loving, super-affectionate guy who just loves everyone he meets!  Now he just needs to find his forever home where some lucky person or family will treasure him for the gem that he is, and give him a second chance at the great life he deserves.

Like most shelter dogs, he may need a refresher on housetraining after being at the shelter for a while. He is likely crate trained.  Can you turn Herbie's bad luck around and give him a chance at the life and forever home he deserves by making him your companion or part of your family?  He will pay you back with many years of fun, love, companionship and loyalty!

The adoption fee for this dog is $300, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Sheila at sheilamcgee2001@yahoo.com!
