Who doesn't dream of the perfect playmate for their dog? Finding two that get along is rewarding. Starsky and Hutch not only get along, they are the best of friends and (we think) brothers.

At six years of age, they have waited longer than they should have had to for their forever home, but we know its out there. Their early story involves isolation in a horse trailer and a lack of socialization, which resulted in a shyness that persists. However, both Starsky and Hutch are friendly to people and dogs alike.

It may take them a little longer to trust you but with just a little patience and time (and a few treats!) Hutch will be walking by your side with confidence and Starsky will be showering you with affection. Starsky and Hutch are good walkers in a neighborhood setting but do not enjoy busy main roads. On leash, there is no pulling or reactivity to runners, cyclists or other dogs. Even walks in the woods passing squirrels are no problem! They attend a weekly swim session as well as daycare and training class to keep them active while they wait. Because of their bond, they are searching for a home together, and they wouldn't even mind if that home had a brother or sister who could help them continue to gain confidence.

These boys are growing bolder by the day thanks to the devotion of STAF volunteers.

All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.

You must complete an application at the shelter prior to meeting any of our animals. (Sorry--our application is not available on-line or via email.)

We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.

We require a fenced yard (sorry--no invisible fences) for homes with children under age 13.

We do request vet and personal references.

At this time, we are only able to consider applicants within 150 miles of Cincinnati.
