Meet Susie
Many people cannot forget the shocking news on CBS about the criminal, who kept dogs in stacked-up crates, operating as a boarding kennel. Animal control confiscated 60 dogs from him, and Susie was one of them.
Susie was originally a family dog with two kids and another dog. One day, the husband walked away, and then the wife suddenly died. The husband took the children, but not the dogs. An 82- year old rescuer saved Susie and the family’s other dog, but she was misled and sent the dogs to the hoarder’s fake kennel. Sadly, by the time the dogs were confiscated by animal control, the other dog did not make it.
When we picked up Susie from animal control, she was quite emaciated, but started blossoming under our care. Forte volunteers noticed some cysts on her skin. Taking her to an oncologist, 13 out of 14 of them were deemed mast cell tumors, but ultrasound showed none internally. Since Susie is such a good girl, she didn’t even need to be sedated when her liver and spleen were aspirated.
The aspiration results came back negative, and the oncologist did not recommend surgery because it’s too invasive while the cells would likely come back. She’s now on medication, and her condition has plateaued, and we hope it will stay that way.
After going through so much, Susie deserves happiness and joy with someone who will love her forever. Susie is so grateful for everything life offers to her. She is tame, sweet and cuddly! If you are willing to open your heart and home to this gracious lady, please contact us today!
[Susie is 6-8 years old and about 60 lbs.]
