Sulcata Tortoise ( Turtle Turtle Mix Manheim, PA

"Toby" the sulcata tortoise came into the rescue from a great caring home, although they were given some bad dietary advice (by a VET of all people!). "Toby" is 6 and a half years old and a couple years ago stopped eating. When he was taken to the vet, the vet actually recommended adding dog food to the diet as an appetite stimulant. His owners continued feeding him dog food for quite some time before they learned how harmful it is to a tortoise's development. Consequently Toby has a significantly deformed shell, but he is still active and eating and growing and otherwise very healthy.


Toby's owners were very sad to give him up and spent several years doing their best to take care of him. We would like to see him go to a great home, and maybe even an educational program where people can learn the importance of proper pet care.

1. We cannot ship reptiles so you must be able to pickup in the Lancaster, PA area. You can meet us at the Lancaster Herpetology Society each month (www.lancasterherp.org) or schedule a pickup time here in Manheim, PA 17545.


2. You must be 18 to adopt a reptile (sorry kids).


3. You must be willing to sign a no-breeding agreement and available for a home visit if needed.


4. Our #1 goal is to put our animals in the best homes and we reserve the right to deny applications for any reason. We are a very small nonprofit organization so thanks for understanding.
