UPDATE: 01SEP2008 Dozer was adopted to a family in PA, and he'll be making the rounds at local schools to educate children, too. We get about 5 sulcatas a year for adoption, though, so please ask for an application if you'd like to be put on a waiting list to adopt a sulcata. Sulcatas are the # 1 surrendered tortoise in the US. ----------- Dozer is a sulcata tortoise, also known as an African spurred tortoise. He's two FEET long, weighs 60 pounds, and eats like a cow. He's healthy and active.

Dozer needs a LARGE fenced-in area to roam and graze in the warm weather, and a VERY LARGE heated enclosure in the winter, such as a heated shed, barn, green house, or specially constructed enclosure in a basement. Sulcatas can grow to 100 pounds or more, and DO NOT hibernate. They eat like cows and deficate like cows. At Dozer's size, they can go through dry wall and even cinder block fenced in some cases. Homes in southern climates are preferred. Shipping is an option, if an adopter is willing to pay for shipping, which typically runs $100 - $200 depending on where you live. Shipping is through Delta Dash ONLY, so you'll need to pick up from the airport if Dozer is shipped. ---------------------------
