Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond is a non-profit (501(c)(3) ), all volunteer organization serving Richmond, Virginia and nearby counties. We rescue homeless Labrador retrievers from local animal shelters and provide them with foster homes and veterinary care which includes updating vaccines if needed, testing for heartworm (and treating if necessary) as well as intestinal worms and spaying/neutering if not already done, until they can be adopted into new, loving homes.
We formed our group in February 2006 because we saw the need for a local Lab Rescue group. We bring new Labs into our program on a regular basis as space allows. Typically, we will have about 5-10 Labs available for adoption. The main reason for the small number is that we house each one of our Labs in a foster home, instead of in a kennel. (We ONLY board dogs in extreme circumstances.) We feel this is the best way to get to know the Labs we rescue and make the best placemen
