Our Mission
Sherman Animal Services strives to promote responsible pet ownership and to efficiently enforce state and local laws through partnering with volunteers, local veterinarians and animal welfare organizations.
Our adoption fees* are $50 for dogs and $40 for cats. This includes spay/neuter, first set of vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs, and a microchip. It does not include a health exam.
We encourage adopters to take the adopted animal to their veterinarian within 48 hours of adoption for a health exam and anything else that their veterinarian recommends.

Adoption Policy
Adoptions are first come first serve. Anyone over 18 years of age is eligible to adopt provided that they meet the adoption criteria for that specific animal. Criteria can range from having basic knowledge of the animal’s species or breed, having an established veterinary history, not having young children, the animal being legal to own in the city they live in, the breed they’re interested in being accepted at their apartments, etc. If a potential adopter doesn’t meet the criteria in place for that animal, they will be encouraged to look at other animals that may not have those restrictions in place.
