Westie Rescue of Tennessee, Inc. was founded in 2007 and became a 501-c-3 recognized organization in 2010. Our mission is to help save and rehome Westies in need in our coverage area, and work with other chapters, when needed, to offer assistance as necessary. Our coverage area includes the full states of Tennessee and Alabama, as well as Northern Mississippi and Southern Kentucky (Bowling Green area). We are compiled completely by volunteers and DO NOT OPERATE A SHELTER. ALL OF OUR FOSTER DOGS ARE PLACED IN APPROVED WESTIE-WISE FOSTER HOMES WHILE WE CAREFULLY SCREEN AND SELECT THE VERY BEST OPTION FOR THEIR NEW FOREVER HOMES.
General Adoption Rules: Our goal is to see all Westies in wonderful, loving homes.
We do not ship our dogs, and none of them are to be kept outdoors, though fenced yards are preferred. We do not adopt to homes with children under the age of 8 - preferably 10.
A nonrefundable donation of $250 - $450, unless otherwise stated in the dog’s bio, is required to support our program. We are an all volunteer organization and these donations cover the expenses for the dogs in our care. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible, and you will receive receipt for your taxes at the time of adoption.
In general, Westie Rescue dogs come to us from a difficult past; whether it be from puppy mills, shelters, or owners who did not understand the Westie personality/traits. Westie Rescue dogs often take time and patience to transition into a new home, and need additional training; including potty training. We want to make sure qualified applicants understand that life has not always been kind
