FERRET RESCUES SHOULD BE RESEARCHED BEFORE ADOPTING; BUYERS BE SMART!
F.A.C.T. and several other ferret rescue/shelters have become aware of less than honorable ferret sellers disguising themselves as rescues or adoption facilities in order to sell older, unhealthy ferrets as young and healthy to unknowing buyers. Listen, there is a long history of sellers of all types of pets who simply grab up freebies from owners who no longer want them and then pass them off as healthy, happy pets ... in order to make money.
The best advise that can offered in order to avoid these sad situations is to always request veterinary references from the seller showing the care the ferret has received, as well as references from adopters who have previously adopted from this seller. Any legitimate rescue will be glad to provide references.
The above advise most particularly applies to ferrets for sale online: if the seller cannot provide vet paperwork reflecting that the ferret is as they say (aged correctly, healthy with good weight/coat/skin condition, and good temperament), then avoid the purchase.
DONATING TO HELP A MEDICAL NEEDS FERRET
F.A.C.T. is fortunate to have a young boy who helps with the medical care of one of our senior ferrets. He has taken it upon himself to donate his birthday money to us and the money is used for the care of one of our ferrets. It is a impressive act of compassion from such a young man and we are grateful. If anyone who like to join in this effort, please contact us for information. F.A.C.T. is a non-profit organization and any donation is tax-deductible.
