Our Mission

We welcome you to join us in our mission of helping the homeless ACD's find their right forever home & with our continued support before & after adoption, we want to make sure our foster ACD's know
"You'll Never Walk Alone".

Our goal is simple - lower the quantity of unwanted ACDs by offering guidance for owners with training, behavior or medical issues and most of all by placing OCDRT's Foster ACDs into a properly screened adoptive homes. When our process is followed you are rewarded with the joy of having the right ACD placed in your home.

Adoption Policy

Our adoption fee of $250 goes towards the dog’s spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchip, fecal testing, de-worming, heartworm/tick disease testing and treatment/preventative. All other medical needs are addressed as needed and all fosters are fed a premium food. Thank you for considering a rescue dog that comes to you with all of the routine medical procedures and testing done.

All of OCDRT’s foster dogs have lived in their foster home for at least 2 – 3 weeks. This allows us learn their temperament, likes and dislikes, needs, and training level of the dog. During this time, the foster dog is fully vetted, crate trained, house trained, learns foundation skills & basic obedience, & socializes with dogs & people. This time & training is critical in placing the dogs in the proper home. Placement mistakes where a dog needs to be returned are rare because of this procedure. It isn’t fair to the dog or the new owner when a dog is adopted out and then is returned because it is not compatible with the lifestyle of the new owner. OCDRT prides itself in knowing the ACDs before determining which home is a good match. We want both the Adopter and Foster to be compatible and happy. When an ACD is returned, it is confusing to them and we want to avoid this, so bear with us during our evaluation period.

Contact OCDRT at for an application. Once the completed application is received, the Board takes the application under review with the foster home. All applications are processed in the order in which they are received. If there is potential for a match, OCDRT contacts the references, requests a phone interview, requests a deposit to hold the foster while a Home Support Visit is completed, and a meeting is arranged with the approved applicant and foster dog. OCDRT holds the meetings at the foster dog’s home with the approved applicant’s family and their dog(s). Please note a foster’s needs before filling out an application. Their likes, disliked and any concerns will be noted in each individual dog’s bio. OCDRT reserves the right to determine which foster dog is the proper match. We are very honest in our foster dog’s needs in a forever home, and look for those qualities in a potential applicant to ensure the best match possible.
