We work to rescue dogs and cats from high kill shelters in NC/SC/GA/VA. We will place them in an approved foster home until an approved forever home is chosen.
We have received many many phone calls lately asking us to take owner surrendered pets. PLEASE UNDERSTAND we cannot take personal surrenders. Our dogs come to us from County shelters, where they are on euthanasia lists. By taking a personal surrender, we are guaranteeing the death of a shelter dog. We will be happy to help you post your dog on our sites in an effort to find him/her a new home, but cannot physically take them into our rescue. .

We want more than anything for you to find a new best friend here. But please understand, while you may find a well behaved, house trained dog just ready to walk into your life like he has always been there, most of the animals from the shelter need patience and time and training to help mold them into the amazing companion you have always wanted. Many times they have been abandoned, neglected, mistreated and/or abused. When they arrive at the shelter they spend most every moment trying to recover from the horror of where they have been and at the same time trying to deal with the shelter. They will need 2-3 weeks of patience and consistency for a healthy decompression time. Please read this article before committing to a dog. Dogs are a lifetime commitment. They are not property, They are family members and should be treated as such. https://roanokeadoptablepounddogs.wordpress.com/2014/04/06/decompressing-rescue-dog/ *
