Adoption Policy
1. Submit Application -
Complete and submit an adoption application form, providing details about your living situation, experience with pets, and your preferences for a cat.
2. Application Review -
Our adoption team will review your application to ensure it meets our criteria for responsible pet ownership.
3. Veterinary Reference Check –
We will contact your current or previous veterinarian to verify your pet care history and discuss your suitability as a pet owner.
4. Personal Reference Check –
We will reach out to your personal references to gain additional insights into your character and commitment to pet care.
5. Applicant Phone Call –
A member of our team will call you to discuss your application, answer any questions, and ensure a good match for you and the cat.
6. Home Visit Scheduling –
If your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit to assess your living environment and ensure it’s a safe and welcoming space for a cat.
7. Application Signing –
After the home visit, if all goes well, you’ll sign the adoption agreement.
8. Adoption Donation –
Finally, we will collect the adoption donation, which helps cover some of the vetting (vaccines and spay/neuter). Once all steps are completed, you’ll be ready to bring your new feline friend home!
• If you rent or lease, please get in touch with your landlord or leasing company regarding their pet policies. If pets are not allowed, your application will be denied.
• Call your vet and authorize them to release your pet's medical history to us. When we call the vet for reference and authorization has not been given, we will stop the application process and move to the next applicant.
• If your pets are not spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on monthly heartworm medication, your application will be denied.
• We are all volunteers in this organization with full-time jobs and families of our own, please do not submit an application knowing that your landlord/leasing company doesn’t allow pets, or if your pets are not up-to-date on vetting, spayed/neutered.
