Our Mission

The Kentucky Equine Adoption Center (KyEAC) is the largest all-breed equine rescue in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Nestled on 72 acres in the rolling hills of Jessamine County, KyEAC is the home and training ground for approximately 50 equines at all stages of rehabilitation and retraining. We are not a sanctuary; part of our mission is to find the perfect home and purpose for all of our horses–from high level dressage to therapeutic equine companions, from trail horses to pasture ponies.

Adoption Policy

At the Kentucky Equine Adoption Center (KyEAC), we meet horses from all walks of life. In order to adopt one of our horses, we require you to fill out and submit an adoption application. KyEAC will not process any application unless the required photos, proof of residence, and application fee are included. We will then contact you to let you know if your application meets our requirements. If approved, we will put you in touch with one of our trainers who will work with you to find your perfect match.

NOTE: All adopters must sign an Equine Adoption and Placement Agreement and pay the adoption fee before the equine leaves KyEAC.

We also require adopters to complete an inspection on the adopted horse 6 and 12 months following adoption. To ensure adopters comply with their inspections, a $250 deposit is required on all horses priced under $2,000, and a $500 deposit is required on all horses priced at $2,000 and up. This deposit is already calculated into the adoption fee. If the adopter complies with the inspections, this deposit will be fully refunded after the requirements of the 6 and 12-month inspection have been met to our satisfaction. If the adopter does not comply with their inspections, their deposit will be forfeited.
