Winnebago County Animal Services
Our Mission
We strive to return as many lost animals to their homes as possible by identifying the owner through a microchip, rabies tag, or other identification tag.
Those animals that are not reclaimed are available for adoption. Please visit the shelter in person to meet or learn about the animals in our care.
Adoption Policy
We encourage you to visit wcasrock.org and view the latest information on any dog that you are interested in adopting or come to the shelter in person.
What does pre-selected mean?
Some of the dogs listed for adoption may be at Winnebago County Animal Services on their stray hold allowing their original owner to reclaim them. Dogs on stray hold may be pre-selected for adoption with an approved application and by paying the full adoption fee. If the owner does not reclaim the dog, then it will be altered and go home after the stray hold period is over. Winnebago County Animal Services only takes one pre-select hold per dog. Dogs at WCAS passed their stray hold time or owner surrendered and currently available for adoption are available on a first-come, first-served basis with an approved application. At wcasrock.org, you can click on the photo of the dog to see if there is a note indicating the dog has been pre-selected for adoption; the note appears under the photo.
Details on the adoption process for Winnebago County Animal Services can be found on our website wcasrock.org.
