# Petfinder

> Petfinder is the leading online database of adoptable pets in North America, connecting people with pets from nearly 11,000 shelters and rescue groups across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Petfinder was founded on July 31, 1996 by Betsy and Jared Saul. It is operated by Nestlé Purina PetCare Company, a subsidiary of Nestlé S.A. The affiliated nonprofit Petfinder Foundation provides grants and resources to animal shelters and rescue organizations.
