Uno Horse Quarterhorse Elkhart Lake, WI

UNO is a 16HH, 19-year-old American Quarterhorse gelding. He spent 15 years with his mom, Seven, in their original home. Though Seven was ridden, Uno was sent out for training but was not continued with at home. Subsequently this guy has quite a bit left to learn! However, he is an ABSOLUTE LOVE and adores attention and spending time with his human friends. Uno requires an experienced home due to his elevated flight reflex developed over years of looking to his mom for assurance.

***UPDATE 11/9/22: Uno has been continuing his work with saddling and riding and has been making some progress. Recently we tackled some riding in the round pen, which was new and a little scary to him, but he did well and responded more to leg and hand cues. We still have work to do, but he is trying his best to understand what's being asked of him and to work with us. He is such a sweet boy!***

Original Bio:
Uno is a very special boy with a very loving personality. Due to his history, he requires a person that is very confident and patient, who will take the time to earn his trust. He has a strong flight reflex, but is much calmer when he is with a person that he trusts to lead him. While working with him, we have found that he responds really well to praise and loves to be rewarded with scratches when he does a good job. (He especially loves his belly scratched!) We have been working lately on being saddled, and most recently accepting someone on his back, which he did wonderfully with! He stands very well for tacking up, although he likes to take a good sniff of his saddle pad first :) We will continue to work on moving him towards more riding and increasing his confidence under saddle. An ideal home for Uno would be a place with open space, he should not be stalled, and somewhere with solid fencing (not electric) due to his history. He does not generally test fences, but does not do well with electric due to his higher flight reflex. He is an amazing boy that would love to have his own person to adore, and who will love on him and spend time with him, not just under saddle. He is smart, and picks up on what you are trying to do quickly with both ground work and under saddle. We will continue to update as we work with him.
