I’ve only ever known people hated me and I can never be what they want me to be. My last owner wanted to work with me and I was a little scared so they tied me up and beat me until I quit shaking and gave in. But I was too exhausted to move so they just left me. Weeks later they dropped me off at the sale yard and I hardly knew what to do with all the commotion and people. I hid in the back corner and tried to stay still, after awhile they pushed me into the alley with my lead rope dragging behind me. The next thing I knew I was in the midst of a whole crowd of people. I just wanted to run away but I couldn’t. Next I was loaded up with a heap of other horses and we were taken to a place with barns and big pastures. I was very scared but there were people trying to just feed me grain and talk to me quietly. After the vet looked at me they turned us all out to graze and I got to spend my days with my new little friends.
Rosie has definitely had a lot of abuse it seems like to us. She definitely needs a special home willing to work her through the trauma and trust issues she has. She’s extremely fearful but will still come up and eat grain sometimes. I believe she was halter broke and maybe more at one time but was mishandled in a terrible way. So currently she will just be spending time with us building trust out in the pen and then we will build from there. She does lead but for now we are starting at the beginning. She’s a beautiful little mare but is NOT a pet or kids pony. Rosie has had an amazing turn around in her body condition since arriving here with us and has gained 100 lbs in just 4 weeks!
Rosie needs a gentle caring hand to look after her in the future.
