A: If you haven’t already, please look at our adoptable horses here. Then, read our adoption policy and submit an adoption interest form (both are below.) A member of our team will reach out shortly. Q: I submitted an adoption interest form online, but I have not gotten a reply. A: If you have recently submitted an interest form, please be patient. Someone will reach out shortly. If it’s been a while, please contact us at adoption@savethehorses.org. Q: What is the price for adopting horses? A: It depends on variety of factors, such as horse’s overall health, if they are rideable, etc. Q: Is the adoption fee refundable? A: No. However, the adoption fee is considered a donation and tax deductible since Save the Horses is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue. Q: Are all the horses rideable? A: Not always. Since this is a rescue, we get our horses from different situations. Q: Is this horse trained in…? A: While we have horses that are rideable, many of them may need additional training. If they are trained in particular area, it usually is in their description. The rescue generally has does not have resources to train the horses. Q: Is this horse available? A: Our adoption websites (PetFinder & Adopt-A-Horse) are usually up to date, so if the horse isn’t on there, they are likely not available for adoption. Q: Can I come meet the horses? A: Please arrange a date with us for a meeting. Not all the horses are on the rescue’s property. They may be in a foster home, or the horses’ owners have contacted the rescue to arrange an adoption through the rescue to find a safe home for them. Even if the horses are at the rescue, they may be shy. Q: What is the difference between adoption, foster, and sponsorship? A: Adoption is you legally own the horse(s). Foster is you are providing a place for the horse(s) to stay; volunteers may help with feeding. Sponsorship is monetary contribution to taking care of a particular horse. Sponsorship may be continuous. Q: Who can I contact for additional questions? A: Email us at adoption@savethehorses.org.
