Meet Charity

Charity was surrendered to Hearts Alive Village Horse Rescue after she had been abandoned by her previous owner. We call her Bella now as she is a beautiful but a very timid 18 yr old mare of unknown breed or origin. It is highly likely she has never been ridden.

Bella is very respectful and enjoys attention, once she can get over being unsure with the situation. It takes patience to catch her each morning for her daily hoof cleaning, but once haltered, she accepts and enjoys the attention. Her first hoof trimming was like that of a yearling, but now she stands for the farrier like a champ!

Bella lunges in the round pen and is a quick learner, but still extremely timid and unsure. On occasion she will join Annie at the turnout gate for a little attention, even though she won't actually let you touch her.

At 18 yrs old, our hope for Bella is to find a forever home with lots of kindness and patience.
