Meet Autumn
Autumn will be participating in the 2023 Dakota Showdown Horse Trainer Challenge and available for adoption via auction to approved adopters on August 13, 2023. Learn more and apply to adopt at http://dakotashowdown.com
Autumn captured everyone's heart when she and her 5-week-old foal were purchased at auction and then separated in the parking lot by a kill buyer. Originally heading direct to slaughter, this cruel separation ended up giving her another chance at life when we were called because the foal was not eating and in trouble. Thanks to our strong network we were able to track down Autumn in another town several hours away, purchase her back, and reunite her with her hungry foal!
Her foal has now grown big and strong and they have weaned, so it's time for Autumn to find her new home. She's a large, calm Mustang mare, who so far has been easy to handle. She has struggled with her hind feet being trimmed but now that she's weaned we will work on that.
She was said to be trained to ride when she went through auction, but due to winter we have not yet had a chance to evaluate that.
