Zoey American Eskimo Dog Elmhurst, IL

UPDATE: Zoey has been with us for a couple of weeks now and has come out of her shell; she is an energetic, active, happy, puppy. She has little time to sit still, always on the go bouncing around, running, jumping, and investigating everything in her reach! Zoey loves toys, especially tennis-balls....which she plucks the fuzzy felt out of! Soft, plush toys, crate pads and doggie beds are kind of off-limits for now...at least when not supervised...as Zoey thinks these nice soft things are for chewing a hole in and of course...de-stuffing! Zoey is a barker and a talker, therefore we are requiring a stand alone home, no condos, townhomes, apartments, etc. A fenced yard is a bonus...at this point not a requirement. Zoey would be a great choice for a family with older kids, but no babies or toddlers. Zoey will require obedience training and an Eskie experienced adopter.


Introducing Chicagoland Eskie Rescue's Zoey! Zoey is a Small Standard, 1 yr. old, female Eskie, and now approx. 20 lbs. She was an owner surrender that we just brought into the rescue over Valentine's weekend. Zoey is still in "shock" (trying to figure out what happened to the life she knew). She is quite shy and not well socialized with other dogs, cats, etc. She barks at other animals. Her former owner says that she is very energetic and non-stop motion....which at her age, is not a surprise. Zoey had 4 kids in her life, we can already see that she responds to kids, so we would like to see her go to a family with kid/s over 8 yrs. old. She has never been with babies or toddlers. Zoey is said to be housebroken, BUT her former owner trained her to puppy potty pads and did not train her to go outside.... indeed she has only been willing to go on a paper pad since we took her in. We will work on getting her outside, but with the current and recent Chicagoland temperatures.....tis will take time and patience. We will update as we get to know Zoey better. To adopt any AED/Eskie under two years old, you must have breed experience, no exceptions. Zoey will need obedience training, as well as more socializing with both people and dogs.
