Meet ZITO

Meet ZITO - an approx. 4yr. old Chowchow!

Zito is on Orcas Island, WA and is living with and on the property of the Founder of ADR.org (AnimalDefense Rescue.org).

ZITO was rescued from a high Kill shelter in Palmdale, CA because he came in stray, like most of the dogs that are abandoned in the desert areas, or dumped like trash in areas where there is nothing to feed on or drink.
Activists say the growing abandonment of dogs in CA has created an epidemic and many are turning a blind eye to.

ZITO was listed as euthanization candidate because he was too nervous and was not an "adoption candidate". But ADR.org could get him out before that happened.

Afterwards, ZITO was treated over 3 weeks at a vet clinic Canine Coronavirus pneumonia and has fully healed.
ZITO now brings 54 lbs. to the scale, is neutered and up to date with vaccinations, as well he is microchipped.

Based on his behavior assessment, ADR.org describes him as such:

ZITO is first timid with dogs he is not familiar with yet (especially females). He becomes playful with dogs that initiate play and running around. If he cannot gauge a dog, he keeps his distance but tries later to engage. He is bubbly and likes the company of a person he trusts.

AND he is a character, and has a lovely disposition and personality.

Within a week on OI, WA his behavior on leash went from "flee mode" to orderly walking and taking his time for sniffs. He adapted quite well and quickly to structure be it the daily routines or commands. And the newest pleasure he has found is getting belly scratches.
He enjoys running and romping with the female dogs of the founder of ADR.org.

There are plenty of videos that ADR.org will share with you once a contact has been established.

ADR.org definitively will recommend a dog-savvy adopter with acreage and a fenced outside, and ideally another dog that would fit ZITO’s personality. If he had a saying in it, then he would like to be with a playful female- as he likes sometimes to wrestle.

A family environment with too many people coming and going without paying attention to him, and young children under twelve would not be the environment ZITO would be thriving in.

Chow Chows love and respect "their" human and do not like hectic and chaos.
If you are committed to give ZITO what he deserves after all the ordeal he went through, and you want to give him a loving home for the rest of his life, then please contact ADR.org by sending an email to: ADR@animaldefenserescue.org introducing yourself and sending some photos along.

You would have to plan in a trip to Orcas Island to meet him. This all can be done easily.
ADR.org and ZITO will then review all emails and schedule a call with you to get to know you better before sending an application.
ADR.org will not respond to FB messages.

WE look forward to receiving mail from you!
WOOFLY,
ZITO
