Zebra is a little guy weighing less than 5 lbs. His birthday is Jan 23, 2023. His mom was cosigned to a dog breeder auction and his freedom was secured by Leia's Hope.

Zebra may be the smallest of the siblings but he is spunky and doesn't back down from a challenge. He is brave and was the first to explore the yard on his own. He likes to play with toys, paper, slippers or anything else he can fit in his mouth! Zebra likes to get under foster mom's feet and would not be ideal for anyone who has mobility problems.

We like our puppies to be placed in homes where they will get lots of play and socialization. So a family with kids, another playful dog, or someone who is social and can take their dog to many places is ideal. Puppies born in a puppy mill lost out on the critical socialization period (3 -4 weeks) and they need to play catch up to help them be secure and well adjusted adult dogs.

Zebra's adoption fee is $415. He is microchipped and received the age appropriate vaccines (subsequent vaccines are at the adopter's expense). He is not neutered and a neuter contract is required. The neuter is covered by Leia's Hope if using our vet. Visit leiashope.org for our process.

WE DO ADOPT OUT OF THE AREA, HOWEVER, WE DO NOT SHIP NOR ARRANGE TRANSPORTS. YOU WILL HAVE TO COME TO DECATUR, IL TO MEET THE DOG. IF FLYING, DOGS MUST FLY IN THE CABIN AND THE EXPENSE OF THE HEALTH CERTIFICATE IS ON THE ADOPTER.

IT CAN TAKE AT LEAST 7 DAYS TO PROCESS AN APPLICATION SOMETIMES LONGER DEPENDING ON VOLUNTEER AVAILABILITY AND NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED SO PLEASE BE PATIENT AS WE ARE VOLUNTEERS WITH FAMILIES AND FULL TIME JOBS AND DOGS OF OUR OWN TO CARE FOR.

IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 9 MONTHS): YOU MUST HAVE A FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE OR SOMEONE HOME ALL DAY. PUPPIES NEED TO BE LET OUT TO POTTY OFTEN, THEY NEED SOCIALIZATION AND BONDING AND NEED TRAINING (HOUSETRAINING AND BEHAVIORAL TRAINING). IF YOU WORK LONG HOURS, HAVE A BUSY SOCIAL SCHEDULE OR NOT FINANCIALLY SECURE THEN A PUPPY IS NOT FOR YOU.
