Yzma Terrier Mix Clatskanie, OR

LOOKING FOR VERY SPECIAL ADOPTERS EXPERIENCED WITH ABUSED DOGS!
Yzma is an approximately 10 year old terrier and ShihTzu/California dog cross who was picked up as a stray in the Bay area. She was emaciated and covered in ingrown foxtails that had to be surgically removed. She also had to have a major dental with many extractions. This tiny 11 pound fluffy soft girl (she has been clipped to remove badly matted coat) had been severely neglected and probably abused.
Yzma was terrified of humans when she first arrived in rescue. Past history plus some partial deafness and older eyes didn't help. This little girl has learned to walk on a leash (!) and loves to go hiking and accompany us on errands in the car. She is house and solid crate trained but will have the occasional accident if standing patiently at the door does not get a response. She loves being scratched under the chin and petted and stroked gently but PLEASE DO NOT PICK HER UP. The latter is one her huge remaining bugaboo. She can jump into the car just fine all by herself, so thanks but no thanks on the human lift!
Yzma is a terrific little dog who is really blossoming with good food, a consistent environment and patience.
She is fine with other dogs of all sizes, but no young children, please. We think she would probably be fine with cats. Regular grooming will be a must. Secure fencing is a given.
Yzma is in foster care in Clatskanie, Oregon. Her adoption fee is $100. and she will be available to the right home ONLY after the first week of November.
