Meet Ying

7/22/12 Ying is approximately 7 months old and doing great! She is healthy and happy. Loves to play with other dogs, is house trained and sleeps thru the night. Ying has also conquered her fear of men and if she becomes shy a treat will work well towards being fast friends. She would love to find a great hiking or running partner .........could that be you? 6/30/12 Because Ying is a bit nervous around men so she has been moved to a home with a man so she can adjust and she is doing great!!! She seems to love all other dogs and is very smart. She would love to go to her forever home....please ask about her. 5/21/12 Ying is enjoying being in a home. She is currently living in the home of a dog trainer and is learning how to be a great dog. She is very smart and is picking up on house training, sleeps in her crate, and walks well on a leash. Ying is a little shy with men so she will need to be in a home that can have some patience while she learns to trust and is comfortable.

Currently, Ying is in Arkansas. She is around 12 weeks old, weighing 10 pounds. She has a gray brindle coat. Ying and her two sisters were dumped in the shelter driveway on March 21st. Ying likes to play, cuddle, run, and give licks. She likes to play with the shelter director's 11 year old son, loves people, and is extremely with all dogs. She is the calmest of the three, and she is also the most shy. The shelter director writes, "She is the hardest to get your hands on, but not too hard, just kind of dances out of reach and is happy to let her sisters push her out of the way." Ying has been exposed to cats as well- she just wanted to play.

This dog is available unless it is marked as Pending, meaning "pending adoption".

If this Dog is marked Urgent, it is because the Arkansas shelter where he/she resides is overfull. **Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot.** Please also do not send us letters about why we euthanize, AHR does not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many dogs as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives.

FOR PUPPIES: HOMES CONSIDERING PUPPIES MUST BE PREPARED FOR:

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES FOR POTTY TRAINING-THEY CAN ONLY "HOLD" IT FOR ONE HOUR PER MONTH OF AGE.

CRATE TRAINING FOR THE NEXT 10 MONTHS TO KEEP THEM FROM CHEWING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.

SUPERVISION WITH CHILDREN, AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING.

SOCIALIZATION-A GOOD DOG MUST BE EXPOSED TO A LOT OF STIMULUS AS A PUPPY SO THAT NEW PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTS DO NOT INTIMIDATE THEM AS ADULTS. THE MORE POSITIVE EXPERIENCES -IN AND OUT OF THE HOME- AS A PUPPY, THE BETTER.

HOMES THAT WANT TO HAVE GOOD DOGS, MUST BE PREPARED TO PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO TRAINING A PUPPY. IT IS A LOT OF WORK!!! THEIR BEHAVIOR AND STAGES ARE EQUIVALENT TO A 2 OR 3 YEAR OLD CHILD. IT TAKES A FULL YEAR TO HAVE A CALMER, WELL ADJUSTED DOG! PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER ADOPTING IF YOU HAVE NOT THOROUGHLY THOUGHT THROUGH THE PROS AND CONS OF A PUPPY...SO MANY PEOPLE END UP RETURNING THEM IN 3-5 MONTHS BECAUSE IT IS CHEWING, JUMPING AND HYPER. THIS IS NORMAL PUPPY BEHAVIOR.

PATIENCE, CHEWIES, SOCIALIZATION, SUPERVISION AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS A MUST!!

. We pay a Transportation Service from Arkansas to bring the dogs to New England. The adoption fee is $350 for dogs through 6 months of age, $300 for dogs 7 months-5 years, and $275 for dogs 6 years and older; (for bonded pairs: $250.00/per dog). This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm/lyme/erlichea test, worming and for imported dogs: transport on a USDA approved transport with a Health Certificate. All imported dogs are quarantined 14 days prior to leaving Arkansas. Almost Home Rescue will process your adoption.
