?
Physical Description:
That smoosh face ? Those covergirl eyes ? Her eyeliner is perfect!! Yaya looks like a small American Bulldog with cropped ears. She's a doll!
?
Update from a volunteer: "I sometimes call YaYa - Zsa Zsa, because she is sassy. I imagine if YaYa were a woman she would have many “darlings”. I mean- her eyeliner is on point."

Current Living Situation:
Yaya is having a blast at MPR shelter. She is such a happy goofball and so easy to amuse. She's been good in her kennel as of now. She keeps it clean and uses the doggy-door if she needs to relieve herself. She is quiet and patient. She gets a little excited when dogs walk in front of her kennel but nothing overly intense.

Personality:
She was unsure of everything when she first arrived but it did not take her long to get over it and adapt. She's actually turning into a comical girl, full of love for life. Yaya loves belly rubs and chasing the ball. The more time you spend with her the calmer she gets.

Yaya still has a juvenile personality and benefits from structure and leadership. She is responsive. She wants to learn. It's just that sometimes too much fun takes the best out of her. We are working on jumping up when excited and getting a little carried away. She's learning biting inhibition and self control. It's possible she was removed from her siblings too young and did not experience appropriate interaction with people when growing up. She is by no mean a lost-cause, but needs a little work to become a well-behaved companion. She really wants to be!
?
Behavior with people:
She's fun-loving but occasionally mouthy. No aggression but she doesn't always know how to control her excitement when playing with people. While some volunteers are describing her as a comical and fun-loving little rascal, we are also getting reports that she is sweet and loving once she has a chance to do her zoomies in the yard.

Behavior with children:
As of now, we believe Yaya should not go in a home with small children. She may be ok with teenagers as long as they have enough maturity to provide her with the structure and leadership she needs.

Behavior with other dogs:
She was briefly introduced to other dogs while at the pound and we were told that she was "selective". She will not be placed with another female or with an older dog that could get overwhelmed by her energy. We believe an only-pet home would be the ideal situation for her.

Behavior with other animals:
Unknown - A home with cats is not recommended.
?
Training:
Yaya has been going to training classes and aced it! She’s very smart. Knows all basic commands but still needs work on the “give it” command for resource guarding (though she is improving in that regard). For anyone looking for an intelligent dog, Yaya is your girl! She loves to show you how she can lay down and wait patiently for treats.

Update from a volunteer: " Yaya comes out of the gate hot, but she slows down once she’s gotten some energy out. She was so great on our walk on Tuesday. She checked in with me and didn’t pull. She’s going to be someone’s sassy, smart, loyal gal someday."
