Health
Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. As you can see, Xavier came to us with some untreated chronic dry eye issues. His one eye likely never developed correctly or has deteriorated over the years leaving him blind. He receives eye drops every day to help keep them feeling good. He doesn't love it, but does tolerate them well and really loves the treats afterwards! So he may not be able to see much but he doesn't seem to mind and responds great to verbal cues. Xavier had a dental cleaning and extractions done with our vet since his mouth was in pretty poor shape. He doesn't have many teeth left but he still loves his meals! He has some age-related joint stiffness so he receives a daily NSAID to keep him feeling good as he's getting his strength back. He's hoping to land a forever home with a loving family who will cherish his spunky, adorable personality and keep up with his health needs as he continues to age.
Good in a home with

Meet XAVIER!

MEET XAVIER!

This special little guy is named Xavier! Xavier is around 12 years old, weighs less than 10 lbs. and was abandoned in the lobby of Philly's animal control shelter. We're not sure why he was abandoned, but it's probably for the best since Xavier was in pretty poor shape at the time. He's been recovering in a loving foster home and is doing great!

Despite his age, Xavier is a spunky little guy loves cuddling up with other dogs and cats. In fact, we think he'd do best in a home with other dogs who can act as his guide a bit, or at least his companions! He can be independent but likes cuddling with his human too and doesn't even mind being picked up and carried around! He especially loves back scratches (he does a little dance during!) and having his cheeks rubbed. Speaking of dancing, when he knows it's time to eat, he'll dance around on his back legs and will even sing you a little song in excitement! He doesn't love having his feet touched, but what dog loves that? He'll let you know if he doesn't like something by grumbling, but isn't a biter.
