Meet Woofy aka Mr. Resilient
Woofy's foster parents adore him and gush about him.
Woofy loves belly rubs and all the pets. He has a special fondness for his stuffies, especially his cuddly puppy. He did not know what a toy was, until he came to his foster home, and learned to play with one, for the first time at the age of 9, and he loves it!
Woofy used to be a yard dog, kept outside all his life, when last August, he got out and got hit by a vehicle. His former owners brought him to our vet to be euthanized but our vet saw how sweet he was, and requested us to take him and give him a chance. Woofy's injuries were grave After two surgeries to repair his leg, our surgeon decided that amputation was the best decision.
He had four surgeries in less than a month, and he lived in a boarding for 2 months, until a foster home opened up. He loves and trusts his foster parents and is also protective of them, and their home.
Woofy did not know what it's like to live inside for his entire 9 years of life, or to play with toys or have friends. His life was spent in a yard, alone, his owners hardly ever spending time with him. Sometimes the kids would come and pet him.
The accident let him to his new life, full of love and affection. He learned to play with toys for the first time, and does not go anywhere without a stuffie in his mouth. He also steals his foster siblings' toys whenever he gets a chance.
He loves to cuddle and get petted. He is thriving in his foster home with his foster siblings, and will love a home where he gets the same amount of love and affection.
Despite being a tripawd, he gets around very well and benefits from minor daily exercise to keep his legs strong. He doesn’t like to be jumped on by other dogs and lets them know that. He is a senior pup and likes to be the patriarch among the group. He loves short walks and he loves to lay down next to his people.
Woofy thrives in the company of other dogs, which seems to boost his spirits, although he can also be a single pet, as long as he gets the love and attention fro his humans.
Woofy will make a wonderful addition to a kind and caring family.
Woofy is currently 70 lb, fully vetted, and neutered.
Woofy is being fostered in Texas, and can travel to a few states around us, that would not require a lot of traveling.
To adopt our puppies, yards must be fully and adequately fenced. We do not accept invisible or electric fences.
Adoption applications are available at savesomesouls.com, and if shortlisted as a match, we will reach out to you to schedule a meet and greet with Woofy, either in person or via video chat for out of town applicants.
Woofy's adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP. Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, Harness and Interstate Health Certificate for our out of state adopters.
Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our fosters, especially the long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.
