Meet Woody

Woody is a young hound, estimated at two years old, with a great bugle voice. If you know a hound, you know they love to talk about things. However, he's quiet and well-mannered when he's with his human, just hanging out or riding in the car.

He’s still not sure why he went out running with his hound friends and didn’t get home, or why no one came to find him at the shelter. He barked and barked thinking they would hear him, but they never did. Instead, he wound up in rescue.

Since his time in rescue, he’s made lots of friends and gets along great with other dogs. He’s learned what it’s like to have a full belly and he’s gained weight. He’s learned how to not mess in a crate unless he’s really sure the people who are supposed to let him out and feed him have died because it feels like soooo long. This means that he would likely not have accidents in the house unless his humans waited too long to let him out.

Being crate trained and knowing he needs to hold it until he gets outside, means he's likely going to do amazing with house training. He is also very smart and eager to please.

Once he gets to take care of his outdoor needs, food is his next priority. No one loves eating like a hound who understands hunger, and that’s Woody, because he was really underweight and on a Rx diet for a while. He’s good now on quality food and when his tummy is full he likes to play with other dogs, or just hang out with any human he’s met. He needs some leash work... hounds that run amock arent every worked with on these things. He would also love lots of exercise, long walks, hikes, or play time. He’d do great alone, as an only pup, or with other dogs or children, as he’s been super easy going.

When out at adoption events, Woody lays like a gentleman and doesn't mess with things. He is such a beautiful boy. He also rides great in the car and is on his best behavior when he gets baths.
