Meet Winston
Seeking a home within the LOWER MAINLAND OR FRASER VALLEY ONLY.
Winston is a special guy. He has been at LMHS since March 2024. Winston was found as a stray in Edmonton, and landed at the pound. He was then pulled by a rescue in that area, but after 4 months, they were unable to work with his touch sensitivity. We are guessing him to be around 6 years old.
It is clear that wherever Winston was before he was found wandering the streets, that he was not treated with kindness. He is a dog that you will not be able to just scoop up into your arms whenever you feel like it. It takes time, respect, and understanding what Winston is telling you.
Winston speaks very clearly with his body language and sounds. He requires you to listen and we can teach you how. If you do not force your ways upon him, he will be your best buddy!
It took a few months before we could pick him up, pet him, bath him, tend to his skin when needed, put a harness and leash on for walks etc. the only thing he will absolutely not let us do is cut his nails! (Neither can the vet without some sedation). The best way to keep his nails nice and short and without stress, is to use a scratch board. He is house trained and prefers to potty outside, but will use a pee pad if absolutely necessary
Winston is good with other small dogs, but is human, food & treat possessive. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home, cats are ok. Absolutely no children or future children please.
Winston has food allergies and must stay on his Anallergenic Diet.
Only those who have experience working with dogs like Winston (understanding dog body language, signals and touch sensitivity) will be considered. Please tell us how you would manage Winston's touch sensitivity in your application.
He is neutered, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed and microchipped..
