Winston is a senior dog, who was part of a neglect/hoarding situation not far from our rescue. He seemed to be overlooked by several other rescue organizations, and was in desperate need of medical care for an obvious bacterial skin infection. Not long after bringing him to our facility, our wonderful veterinary staff had him on the mend! Unfortunately, he then developed a fungal skin infection. Winnie was almost hairless when he arrived here, but over time we've conquered quite a bit together, and his coat is looking and feeling wonderful! Winston is a shy guy at first, but he warms up fairly quickly, especially for scratches and brushing! He's good in the car, and good with taking baths, and walks very nicely on leash now. He's bright eyed and spunky, aside from being adorable, he's a wonderful boy who loves affection. Winston does have a some medical needs, he is on medication to regulate his low thyroid, and is on slow kill for heartworms. At his age, our Veterinarian discourages the fast kill method, but we have seen several dogs recover well with the slow kill method. Fortunately, his ongoing medical costs are not a large expense.
Winston is looking for a home to live out his golden years, and no doubt, he has many ahead of him! He is currently in a kennel environment, deserving so much more. If you have the desire to open your home and your heart to a senior, I have no doubt Winnie will pay you back ten fold in joy and all the love he still has to give.
