Meet Winston
Meet Winston! He is currently being fostered in Indianapolis, IN.
Winston is completing his heartworm treatment and will be ready for a forever home around October 13.
Winston would be perfect for a foster to "try on" a Shiba or for first time Shiba owner. He is sweet, not difficult or aggressive and loves attention!
In rescue he met a dog and no fangs/burring of fur, and at his foster home he is out with two other Shiba boys and fits right in.
He does guard items of value from other dogs (no such behaviors noted with humans) so should be fed separately if there are other dogs in the household.
Not suitable for a home with cats unless they have an escape route. He wants to chase the cats at his foster home.
I believe he'd be great with children also. He seems to love absolutely everyone he meets.
He may not be suitable for apartment living since he will bark if bored or lonely. Single family house is fine, or fine for someone who is home most of the time.
Winston hates to be left alone and thrives on attention. Winston is more interested in his visitors than in toys.
He is an escape artist and was an unclaimed stray so fence should be 6' at least stockade or shadowbox OR walked. Winston should never be left out in a yard without a 6' high fence unless under supervision. A tie out will not work because Shiba easily escape all collars and harnesses.
Shiba should be indoor dogs. Can be walked around a yard on lead with a harness.
Winston's favorite thing to do outside in the yard is to roll around in the grass. .
Winston is 5 - 7 years old and has his entire life ahead of him.
He is not first come, first served. We are currently accepting applications and will determine his best home after review of applications and successful home visit to be completed by us or another rescue volunteer with our form.
