Winry Summary:
Winry is an 8-9 month female Great Pyrenees mix. Winry is just a giant puppy! She is very affectionate and absolutely loves attention. If there’s a couch, she will find it, she absolutely loves soft things including soft toys! Winry loves to play with her foster siblings in moderation, she likes her alone time and has a good balance of being a couch potato and being playful! She needs toys in her new home otherwise she will take shoes and socks that are within her reach! She listens very well and is very food motivated! Winry will make the perfect addition to almost any family as long as they give her lots of love! :)

Winry is looking for a calmer home with another dog to help build her confidence and be a good companion.

I will never understand how these dogs can be dumped. Then again, whoever dumped Winry in the shelter never understood what an amazing girl she is. Long before she entered the shelter, she already wasn't being properly taken care of and developed a bad case of mange. When we saw her in the shelter, we didn't see a mangy and scraggly dog, we saw a girl with the sweetest face and was just hoping that someone would bail her out of doggie jail. So, that is exactly what we did! Winry has been treated for her mange and her fur is coming back in nicely.

Winry is good with other dogs. She is initially shy, but once she feels comfortable around them is playful. She has not been around any cats, so we are unsure how she would do with them. She has been around kids as young as 5 and has done great with them. Winry does good when meeting new people, but she isn't exactly outgoing. She is more of an introvert in that she will come up and say hi, but you can see that she is nervous. She is friendly but unsure until she feels comfortable with you. Then, she just wants to cuddle and give kisses!

Winry is calm, laid back, and playful at times. She loves toys and they are a great way to keep her busy. She is not interested in playing fetch. We cannot say at this time if she enjoys playing in the water or not. Winry has been out in public a few times but is very nervous. She would definitely prefer to be a homebody as lots of change makes her unsure. She does eventually warm up, but she would be happier with a more laid-back family that doesn't always want to be out and about. Winry isn't really a fan of walks, once again eventually she will feel more comfortable but she is definitely someone that would be perfectly content with a big ole yard to chill and play in. Given her personality, we don't feel that Winry would enjoy going for hikes. Winry is nervous on car rides but overall does fine. Winry probably spent most of her life in the backyard with little socialization so a lot of this stuff is totally new to her.

Winry is potty trained but not kennel trained. When her foster family is away, she has free-roam of the house and does great. She has not shown to be a big barker and so far has been fairly quiet in her foster home. At night, she likes to sleep in bed with her foster family or on a dog bed. Winry isn't the biggest fan of lots of change and action so we don't feel that she would be a good candidate for apartment living.

Winry would be PYRFECT for a family that is looking for a more low-key dog. One that is perfectly happy chilling at home with them and likes lots of cuddles. Winry does well with everyone, but she does take some time to warm up and feel secure in her surroundings. A family that doesn't have a lot of action going on would be preferred. She would be perfect for some empty nesters or even a young couple that work from home and are just looking for someone to hang out and chill with them. Winry would love another calmer dog in the home to help her gain confidence and feel more secure. Winry does like to play from time to time so if the household dog had the same kind of personality those two would quickly be the best of friends!

You can welcome Winry to your family by filling out an adoption app for her at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

Once you have submitted your application, it will be sent on to her foster family for consideration.

She is being fostered in Moore, OK.
While we do adopt out of state, you would be responsible for picking your new dog up. We do not send our dogs on transport. This way you and your new fur baby can already begin the bonding process on the way back home, and it limits the stress on the dog.

Her adoption fee is $250.00.

That will include her DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordetella. She will be micro-chipped, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention
