10/7/24-Winnie is doing well after her spay. She's back to dancing. Lol The vet reported that her surgery was more complicated due to many previous C-sections. Since her surgery she's been having more frequent accidents. We're note sure if she has a UTI or if things have just been irritated from her surgery. She has frequent small accidents more like piddles that cleans up with one papper towel. The frequency of piddles has improved significantly so we know she's improving. She is on antibiotics from her surgery that should take care of the UTI if she has one. She may need a follow up in her new home to make sure if it doesn’t clear up.
10/6/24-Winnie is doing very well since her spay on Wednesday. The diarrhea she had when she arrived in rescue is gone. She seems like she may have also had a urinary tract infection but she’s been on antibiotics for a few days now & seems to be doing much better. Sweet Winnie is now ready to find her new family!
10/01/24-Bonjour! Je M’appelle Winifred Spellington. My foster family calls me Winnie, little house hippo, and princess Winifred. I’m not offended by the hippo reference. Hippos are cute and I like Moo Deng too. Ok, look, it wasn’t really a hot girl summer. I had puppies and a few too many carbs – but it’s sweater weather now and I’m working on getting my steps in. I’ve been here for a little over a week now. I thought I would need to cast a spell on my foster family to fall in love with me, but it turns out, that wasn’t necessary. Je suis absolutely perfect and lovable without casting any love spells. Here’s what you need to know about moi. J’adore kids. They run, play, and dance with me. They sing songs and read to me! They are the best. I hope my furever home has kids. I don’t jump up so I won’t knock them down, even when I’m super excited. I’m very gentle when they give me treats by hand and I love getting all the pets, hugs and kisses. Sometimes I get the zoomies! Zoomies are especially fun when I can zoom with another dog but my foster siblings here are pugs, they don’t always zoom with me. That’s ok, I zoom by myself too. Right after I get my zoomies out, I like to take a nap. I don’t mind napping on the floor, but I like napping on the couch with a fuzzy blanket or a cozy lap too. I love to play fetch with balls and toys. It’s probably best that I have rugged toys. I haven’t destroyed any toys, but I am a Frenchie after all. Sometimes I get all the toys out of the toy box and scatter them all around the house and outside. What?! I’m decorating! My foster family keeps telling me that I’m smart because I learned how to use the doggie door. So, eventually I’ll need to learn how to put all the toys back on the box. Meh – we’ll see about that. I kind of think I’ve spruced the place up a bit and added a little je ne sais quio! Are we a match? Please apply to adopt me. Merci beaucoup! Winnie
9/26/24-Winnie loves to play! She takes all the toys out of the toy box and scatters them around the house, the deck and the yard. She loves to shake them like crazy too! LOL Today was a little rainy so she played inside. She’s so silly!
9/24/24-Our daughter taught Winnie how to use the doggie door this morning! Nice work Winnie! She had a great teacher! Absolutely perfect and available soon.
9/23/24-Winnie is such a sweet little house hippo. She has the best smile and the cutest zoomies! The way she adores our daughter- so sweet. We’re totally in love! She playful and funny. She loves to take toys, socks and shoes outside and leave them in the yard…good thing it hasn’t rained here. LOL She’s still struggling with diarrhea and telling us she needs to go outside. We’re not sure if the diarrhea is something to worry about yet or if it might just adjustment, water/food changes & the all wormer working. She’s had a few bits of kibble and she’s drinking well. Hopefully she’ll turn the corner on that soon.
9/22/24-Introducing our newest foster! Winifred (Winnie) Spellington. She is doing great & fitting in well so far. She’s not shy or shocked. She slept all night in her crate without a peep. She’s drinking water and had a few nuggets of kibble this morning. She is such a sweetheart and loves all pets, scratches and rubs. She playful with our 3 pugs and especially our daughter. She’s curious about all the toys but so far Fetch is her favorite!
9/21/24-From Ashton & Winifred’s overnight volunteer: Love these two!! They were the perfect guests! Cat tested and cat approved too. These two cuties were the easiest houseguests ever! When we got home from picking them up they ran the yard playing, rolling and receiving pets for 30 minutes….loving life! They both went to the bathroom outside too. They did extremely well during their baths then drank lots of water and gobbled their food. When it was time to get in their crates for bedtime they cuddled up on their blankets and passed out-not a peep all night until we took them outside at 7am and they ran all around again! Winnie loved the dog toys in our yard and carried them everywhere! Lol Enjoy these sweethearts.
09/20/24-Winifred Spellington (aka: Winnie) is an almost 4yr old beautiful female french bulldog. She came from a nice commercial breeder that got her to breed as she is a carrier of a unique color, but Winnie just wouldn’t get pregnant. We were told by breeder she is a chubby girl, loves everyone/everything & laid-back. She arrived safely into rescue tonight along with Ashton thanks to their transport & overnight volunteers. They came from the same breeder as foster boy Colby. After her spay on Wednesday 10/2 & we get to know her a little better, Winnie will be ready to go to her new home!
