Windy's Story

Windy is ready to find her forever home, and ain't no one gonna slow her down! This is girl is one who loves to explore the world around her, until she is so tired that she requires a lap (or really soft bed) to snuggle up in. If you are searching for a big personality in a tiny little body, this girl is going to rock your world!

HISTORY
Windy was born in our care, to a chihuahua mix mom. Mama came to us pregnant from a hoarding background. The father(s) of this litter are chihuahua mix as well. Her DOB is 09/08/2025.

Windy is located in Kennewick, WA. We advertise our dogs in a variety of locations in an effort to improve their chances of finding great homes. We can assure you, this pup is well worth a road trip!

SOCIALIZATION
Windy is currently fostered in a home with other pets, and children. She meets everyone with the same enthusiasm and doesn't seem to prefer one person she's met over anyone else. She has spent a lot of time with children, men, women, and teens all the same. Some days her foster home is high traffic, as her foster mama is a dog groomer, and others its quiet and calm. Windy is still a very young puppy, and will be easily adaptable to the species of pets in her new home.

Windy is confident, adventurous, and always ready to be involved. She has been spending a lot of time exploring her surroundings in her foster home, and would much rather skip her afternoon nap to explore than take a rest. Once she has tuckered out though, she is down for the count!

Windy would thrive in a home where she has access to a good deal of exercise and exploration. Her little brain is curious about everything, and she will enjoy training and going on regular walks after her puppy vaccines are completed. She would prefer a home with kids aware enough that they wont trample her in their excitement or play time.

GENERAL TEMPERAMENT AND BEHAVIOR
Windy is such a happy go lucky little girl that loves everyone the same. She does not cling to any one person (or size of person) in particular and is really just happy to be a part of whatever is going on. This girl is one that is ready to go, go, go! Once her puppy vaccinations are completed, she is ready to explore the world around her and would LOVE an active home to keep up with her big desires for adventure.

She has not had exposure to the other animals in the house yet, but she is actively around kids, men, women, teens, and truly just loves to be around people. Whatever species you may already have in your home will be her new best friends!

Her ideal home comes complete with a big, fluffy cloud of a bed, a royal collection of squeaky toys (the squeakier, the better), and gourmet treats served on a golden platter. The more space to explore, the better!

When she is all done exploring, she would love a good snuggle in a comfy lap. While she is curious and loves to explore, she is also a huge fan of snuggling up with someone (or ON someone). She will take a cloud-like bed as a second option though.

TRAINING
Windy is actively working on potty training. She is used to being in a puppy pen during the day, when they aren't having supervised play time. Windy has access to potty pads, and is doing well at using them. Because Windy has not yet completed the full puppy vaccination series, she has not been working on leash training yet.

Windy is just a baby, she is young and eager to learn how to be a good family dog. She'd love you to take her to school so she can learn ALL the skills she needs to be her best self. This would be beneficial for you as her pet parent(s) as well so that you can learn to communicate effectively with her and teach her to be confident. She is still working on potty training.

It's important to remember: Windy is a puppy, and PUPPIES ARE HARD WORK! This little girl is just getting started - she has sharp nails and needle teeth and loves to pounce on shoes and grab hold and tug on anything that moves! As far as she's concerned, anything and everything is for play. She still has everything to learn about being a civilized member of a mainly human family. She will trip you up, piddle on your rug, and chew your stuff. Please don't apply to adopt Windy unless you're sure you have the time, energy and desire to raise her right!

HEALTH STATUS
General info
Windy is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and dewormed. She appears to be in good health. Once full grown, she will likely be somewhere in the 6-10 lbs. range.

HART does not support pediatric spay/neuter, so Windy has not been sterilized. You will be required in terms of the adoption contract to have your pup sterilized by the time they are 6 months old. At your request, HART will refund you $100 upon receiving proof of sterilization at your expense.

ADOPTION
The adoption fee for Windy is $425. HART (Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team)'s Adoption Policy
All our pets are in private foster homes. HART does not have a facility. For this reason, we introduce pets to potential adopters only after the adoption application has been approved. Our process involves: # A detailed application form, which must be submitted electronically # An online background check # Reference checks (calls to your vet, landlord, and at least two personal references) # Interviews with all the adults in the home (and, if the pet is intended primarily as a child's companion, we talk with the child) # A home visit, conducted at our discretion by a member of HART or a trusted rescue colleague Most of our pets are located in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick/Richland/Pasco) in Eastern Washington, and we place pets only in homes within the Pacific Northwest. As needed we may arrange for a trusted member of our team to transport a pet to an adopter, at the adopter's expense. We do not ever release pets to a third party for transportation; we personally introduce every pet to their adopter. HART is a registered 501(c)3 charity. We depend on adoption fees and donations to continue serving our community. We do not have an office or facility, and our team is made up only of volunteers. Our entire income goes to helping animals.
