We named Willa for her strength in spirit. Just like the Willow tree bends in the wind and grows stronger against mother nature's forces, so did Willa bend to the forces of her abusers and grew stronger and survived. Willa seemed like a very good name for her.

Willa is the sweetest girl. She is gentle, loves to be near her person and give gentle kisses. She takes treats gently and respectfully. She has no food or other aggressions. She loves going for car rides and walks. Willa is good with dogs of both sexes but as a companion to a dog we prefer matching her with a male. Willa is also good and sweet with cats. Willa has been temperament tested to children and has shown to be gentle with them. Children should be 6 yrs old or older and understand respect to animals.

Willa’s Story: Willa was used as a breeding machine by back yard breeders. She is still young, only about 5 yrs old. It is evident that she was forced to have several litters of puppies. As is usual with breeder moms, when their bodies are used up they are either killed or dumped somewhere far away from their home where they can’t find their way back home. They mean for the dogs to die out there on their own. So Willa found herself alone, hungry and lonely for human companionship. By the time she found a kind person to give her a hand out, she was extremely thin, full of worms and mildly heart worm positive - now cured, fully vetted and completely healthy. Who knows how long she had to fend for herself, shunned by all but the kindest souls when Willa found her way to just such a person. She politely hung around the porch of her new Good Samaritan, never bothering anyone or anything and ever so grateful for a bowl of food and a caress. She was polite and rested and played and loved on the neighborhood children.

When Willa came to us we immediately got her vetted and sent her to doggie boot camp where she learned how to really live among people in a normal home. She was obedience trained and socialized to home living, to people of all kinds and dogs of all kinds. Today she is an accomplished and happy young lady.

Willa is now ready for her own family. As a companion Willa will be adopted to a male dog only. Children should be 6yrs old and older. Willa will be adopted to an inside forever home only, with outside privileges. Personal and vet references are required, as is a home visit. Must own home. No apartments please. Fence required. Pitties are at high risk of theft to be cruelly abused so unfenced play time is not recommended or approved. Willa’s adoption fee of $200 will be used to help other abandoned dogs like her?
